Designed and Built for the Environment / Swiss Alps
These photos are from my trip to Swiss Alps in 2005.
They show that if you design for the environment and use good construction methods and workmanship, the buildings can survive for centuries and still be in good condition.

The next two are from Kandersteg.
This photo shows new apartments built with modern construction methods, while designed to blend in with the old historic town.
This photo is of the oldest house in Kandersteg, built in 1556 and of untreated timber.
Most of the people that I meet in Kandersteg had been to Wanaka on their OE.
