GREAT
SUMMER DAY – LAKE WANAKA – NEW ZEALAND
Another
great day in Wanaka; just got back from sitting in the shade of a RATA TREE in
flower with bellbirds singing in it at one of the many beaches on LAKE WANAKA.
Southern
Rata is the second hardest timber in the world, at 12 percent moisture, it
weighs in at 1140kg/m2, more than twice the weight of Pinus Radiata or Douglas
Fir.
The
early European name for the tree was Iron Wood.
With Wanaka’s dry climate your home and machines will not suffer from corrosion, like in many other parts of the country.
Having very little corrosion means less maintenance on your home and machines and more time to enjoy Wanaka's relaxed lifestyle.
If you are thinking of building, contact us, as we can design and build your new home as well as do the landscaping.
Here is a very rare WW11 Mitsubishi A6M3 Zero at the Wanaka Airport.

Great Lake Wanaka Scenery
Lake Wanaka is one of the most beautiful parts of New Zealand. It’s a great place to build your house and it is a good investment as there is never a shortage of people wanting to live here. In the area there are plenty of walks to suit your needs from an hour or so to multi day walks.
This is a view from the top of Mount Roy on the outskirts of Lake Wanaka Township on February 2009.
